An old manuscript copy of the Quran has been put on display in Egypt after repair and restoration.
The copy is said to date back to the early years after the advent of Islam, according to al-Hayat daily.
A seven-strong committee of experts did the repairing and restoring work at the national Dar-ul-Kutub (library) in Cairo with help from a number of foreign experts.
The library received the copy in 1870 and since then there had been several attempts to repair it.
The Quran manuscript measures 61 by 54 by 15 centimeters and has a thick leather cover added to it when it was given to the library some 150 years ago.
