More than 600 Shia Turkmen women and children remain under control of ISIS militants, an Iraqi official said on Friday.
Masrour Aswad, a member of the High Commission of Human Rights in Iraq, told Kurdistan24 that the federal government of Iraq and other organizations are not paying enough attention to free these hostages.
“We have acquired information that ISIS has jailed some of them in a military base in Mosul, but the federal government of Iraq and organizations are silent,” Aswad added.
The women in captivity are often used as sex slaves and the children trained for suicide attacks.
He mentioned that they had met with some of the women rescued from ISIS, and they revealed some sensitive information about the many prisoned women in ISIS-controlled territories.
