ISIS launched a major offensive at the DeirEzzor Airport on Saturday, attacking this large military installation from several flanks controlled by the Syrian Arab Army’s 137th Artillery Brigade of the 17th Reserve Division.
ISIS began their assault by storming the DeirEzzor Airport from two different flanks (west and south), while another terrorist contingent launched a simultaneous attack on the nearby village of Al-Jafra.
Despite the large number of terrorist personnel used for this offensive, ISIS could never get this attack going on Saturday, as the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses proved too difficult to infiltrate.
According to a military source from the 104th Airborne Brigade of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Armed Forces repelled all of ISIS’ attacks on Saturday.
The military source added that the Syrian Armed Forces killed approximately 48 ISIS terrorists, including Mohammad ‘Assri Al-Hajj Al-‘Abdullah, Nouraldeen Al-Khodor, Mohammad Khalil Dakhil Al-‘Ali, and “Abu Hamza Al-Rahdan”.
In addition to repelling the ISIS militants at the DeirEzzor Military Airport, the Syrian Armed Forces in Al-Jafra also shot down a reconnaissance drone that belonged to the terrorist group.
