Over two million Muslims take part in a ritual called Jamarat, or the Stoning of the Devil, in Mina, Saudi Arabia, as the annual Hajj pilgrimage reaches its climax.
On Thursday, Muslim pilgrims gathered in Mina near the holy city of Mecca to throw stones at a pillar representing the devil as part of the Hajj rituals.
Jamarat is carried out on Eid al-Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice, one of Muslims’ greatest ceremonies, which symbolizes the rejection of sin and temptation.
The holy pilgrimage is also a demonstration of Muslims’ unity and their submission to Allah.
Every able-bodied Muslim is obliged to perform the pilgrimage at least once in his or her lifetime.
