A Muslim teacher in Varanasi, India, has alleged religious discrimination after being asked to remove her hijab or resign from her job at a private school

According to Maktoob Media, Samreen Bano, a teacher in Uttar Pradesh, told social media followers that she faced repeated hiring rejections once employers discovered she was Muslim and wore a hijab. On her first day at Buddha Public School, she claims the administration objected to her headscarf and told her to leave if she did not remove it, a condition not mentioned during the interview process. She described the experience as a violation of her constitutional rights to freedom of religion and expression and said it reflects broader hostility towards Muslim educators in the region.

Meanwhile in Brisbane, Australia, a 33‑year‑old man has been charged after allegedly threatening worshippers at Masjid Taqwa mosque, claiming he had an AK‑47 in his vehicle outside the place of worship. No injuries were reported, and police charged him with disturbing a place of worship and creating a public nuisance. The Australian National Imams Council condemned the incident, noting it adds to a troubling pattern of anti‑Muslim incidents, including past vandalism and threats targeting Islamic sites.
