World Muslim League Calls for Combating Hate Speech at Davos Forum
—————————–
The Muslim World League (MWL) has urged global efforts to confront rising hate speech and promote interfaith understanding, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, according to an article on www.klyoum.com.

Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary‑General of the Muslim World League and President of the Council of Senior Scholars, delivered the closing address for the religious and intellectual track of the forum. He highlighted the MWL’s long‑standing initiatives to foster cultural understanding and counter narratives of hatred.

Al‑Issa called attention to the “Building Bridges of Understanding and Cooperation between East and West” initiative, backed by the United Nations, noting it as a comprehensive effort to address the roots and societal impacts of civilisational conflict and hate speech.

He stressed that Islam, as a monotheistic faith, upholds human dignity, justice, equality, mercy, and peace — values that align with international human rights standards, including the UN Charter. Al‑Issa also referenced documents such as the Makkah Document, endorsed by over 1,200 scholars and adopted by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, as frameworks for promoting intra‑Islamic and interfaith harmony.

The Muslim World League’s participation at Davos underscores its growing international role in advocating for respectful cross‑cultural and inter‑religious dialogue and cooperation.
