The international organization Shia Rights Watch and the office of senior Shiite cleric Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Bashir al-Najafi have strongly condemned the deadly attack on the Sayyida Khadija al-Kubra Mosque in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, which martyred and wounded Shiite worshippers during Friday prayers.

In a statement received by Shia Waves Agency, the Shia Rights Watch (SRW) denounced the attack as a “cowardly terrorist crime” and said it formed part of a systematic pattern of violence targeting followers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in Pakistan. The organization held Pakistani authorities legally and morally responsible for what it described as a serious security failure, stressing that negligence in protecting citizens and religious sites is unacceptable. It called for urgent security measures to safeguard mosques, Hussainiyas, and Shiite-majority areas, as well as a transparent investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible and to curb extremist ideology. The group also urged the international community and human rights organizations to break their silence and pressure Pakistan to meet its obligations to protect religious minorities.

Separately, the office of Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Bashir al-Najafi issued a statement condemning the “heinous attack” and calling on authorities to hold perpetrators, instigators, and financiers fully accountable. The statement urged the Islamic community to reject sectarian incitement and warned against escalating sectarian tensions. Both statements expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
