The Syrian authorities have closed the holy shrines of Sayyeda Zainab and Sayyeda Ruqaya, peace be upon them, in Damascus, as part of the precautionary measures against coronavirus announced by the Syrian Ministry of Endowments.
Sources close to those in charge of the station said that the closure was “in compliance with the decisions of the Ministry of Endowments, and included all pilgrims, whether they were Syrians or non-Syrians, and that the closure included the shrines of Sayyeda Zainab and Sayyeda Ruqaya, peace be upon them.”
The sources indicated that the procedure is a precaution, despite the fact that the shrines were equipped with thermometers inside, as pilgrims were subjected to examination in the previous days.
The sources added that prayer was also prohibited in mosques in Nubul Wa Zahraa to limit gatherings these days that require all countries to take preventive measures.
