The General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali in Najaf held an official ceremony to raise the banner of grief and mourn for the month of Muharram, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in presence of religious, official and social figures, and a large gathering of pilgrims.

The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, and then the special rituals for the ceremony recited by employee of Imam Ali Holy Shrine Karrar al-Shammari.

The Secretary-General Eng. Yousef Al-Sheikh Radhi, delivered a speech on the occasion, stressing that “Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, is a path of honor, pride and sacrifice for all.”

He pointed out, “We should all reflect in these blessed days to the principles the Holy Imam sacrificed his and family’s souls for.”
