The activities of the eighth annual Ghadeer Festival started under the supervision of the Secretary-General of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine Eng. Yusuf Sheikh Radhi, and in the presence of the members of the Board of Directors, the representative of the Shia Endowment Office, the Governor of Najaf, the officials of the security and service departments in the province, and the secretary-generals of other holy shrines, representatives of religious authorities, as well as the academic and social guests of the festival.

The opening ceremony witnessed the unveiling of the southern minaret of Imam Ali Holy Shrine, followed by a speech by the Secretary-General. Afterwards, several prominent guests delivered speeches on Imam Ali, peace be upon him, such as the representative of the Shia Endowment, Sheikh Haider Al-Sahlani, and the Islamic researcher from the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Ahmed Al-Nafees.
