Final design of al-Aqeelah Zainab Courtyard, time of completion, services offered to pilgrims

Hussain Ridha Mehdi, an engineer, said, “The service area of the courtyard, which is 36,000m2, has been finished,” noting that the area includes a hospitality suite, 600 lavatories, and a bazaar.
Mehdi added that the courtyard also includes educational centers, such as a library, a museum, in addition to the mound on which Lady Zaineb (Peace Be Upon Her) stood on the Day of Ashura.
A 250m2 tunnel will be used for vehicles, especially the service vehicles of the Imam Hussain Shrine that transfer pilgrims during grand pilgrimages, indicated Mehdi.
He also said that in compliance with the directives of the custodian of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, sheikh Abdul-Mehdi Elkerbela’i, the tunnel and the courtyard will be open during the coming month of Muharram.
Mehdi confirmed that the gross area of the al-Aqeelah Zainab Courtyard is more than 50,000m2 and the time required to finish the courtyard is 4 years.
