Progress made on new basement project being built to hold 4000 pilgrims
The Engineering Project Department of the Imam Hussein Shrine has announced the completion of building the foundational pillars as the first phase of the new basement project of the Imam Hussein Shrine.
The Engineering Project Department of the Imam Hussein Shrine has announced the completion of building the foundational pillars as the first phase of the new basement project of the Imam Hussein Shrine.
Project supervisor Salam Sa’doon said, “Continuing the new basement project, our staff has completed building 375 pillars,” adding that the second phase of the project has begun and 20% of it has so far been achieved.
Sa’doon noted that the area of the basement is 2000m2, which can hold 4000 pilgrims.
He also said that the new basement will be connected with the other two basements in order to ease the overcrowding of pilgrims, especially during grand pilgrimages.
