Shia Muslims around the world prepare to celebrate the most important occasion throughout the year, Eid al-Ghadir, at homes, Islamic Centers, and holy shrines.

The holy shrines in Iraq, Iran, and Syria are decorated and prepared, and a number of ritualistic religious ceremonies are held across the world to receive the auspicious occasion.

Eid al-Ghadir is among important feasts and happy holidays of Shi’a held on Dhu l-Hijja 18; when according to reports, the noble Prophet appointed Ali b. Abi Talib, peace be upon them, as his caliph and the Imam after himself following an order from God. That event happened in Hajjat al-Wida’ (the Farewell Hajj), in 10/632 in a place called GhadirKhumm.
