The establishment of the council was announced at a meeting of officials of Iraq’s Dar-ol-Quran centers held at the holy shrine of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, in Najaf, the website of the holy shrine reported.
According to Hassan al-Mansouri, director of Imam Hussein holy shrine Dar-ol-Quran center, the move is aimed at enhancing the level of Quranic activities in Iraq and promoting coordination among Quranic centers in the country.
Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
