Iraq’s oldest female Quran teacher honored at Imam Ali Holy Shrine
The Dar al-Quran Center of Imam Ali Holy Shrine in Najaf, Iraq, hosted the oldest female teacher of Tajweed principles and various Quran recitation styles in Iraq.
The Dar al-Quran Center of Imam Ali Holy Shrine in Najaf, Iraq, hosted the oldest female teacher of Tajweed principles and various Quran recitation styles in Iraq.
According to the shrine’s official website, the Iraqi Quran activist Muntaha Al-Khafaji was honored in a ceremony at the Dar al-Quran Center.
Born in 1932 in Dhi Qar Province of Iraq, Al-Khafaji is a graduate of Al-Azhar University in Egypt.
The lady, known as “Umm Al-Hajah”, was dispatched to Egypt to study Quranic sciences in her youth.
She paid a visit to the Women Quran Section of the holy shrine and provided some advice on the improvement of Quran teaching methods.
