The Holy Shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) is continuing construction and expansion works on the courtyard of Lady Umm al-Banin (peace be upon her), a project covering an area of more than 30,000 square meters as part of ongoing plans to expand service facilities and improve visitor capacity around the holy shrine.
The project is being implemented by the Engineering and Technical Affairs Department of the Holy Shrine and includes the expansion of surrounding areas, the removal of properties located within the project boundaries, and the completion of excavation and foundation works.
Safaa Mahdi, Director of the Resident Engineer Department, said on Sunday, September 13, 2026, that the project involves several stages, including demolishing existing structures, clearing obstacles, and completing foundation excavation and concrete pouring.
He explained that work is continuing around the clock to accelerate implementation and complete the project phases according to planned procedures, while ensuring smooth traffic movement and maintaining safety in the surrounding areas.
The expansion of the Lady Umm al-Banin courtyard is considered one of the major urban development projects undertaken by the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him). Upon completion, the project is expected to provide additional space for visitors and contribute to improving the services offered to pilgrims.
