“Pilgrim’s Chair” Initiative Launched for Sixth Year to Support Arbaeen Pilgrims in Karbala

The Misbah Al-Hussein (peace be upon him) Foundation for Relief and Development in Karbala has launched its annual “Pilgrim’s Chair” initiative for the sixth consecutive year, providing assistance to elderly pilgrims, patients, and people with disabilities during the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

The foundation said that a team of young volunteers has begun distributing dozens of wheelchairs throughout the city of Karbala to help pilgrims who face mobility challenges reach the holy shrines of Imam Hussein and his brother Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them).

According to the foundation, the initiative aims to transport elderly visitors, sick pilgrims, and people with disabilities along the routes leading to the two holy shrines, helping them perform the Arbaeen visitation with greater ease and comfort.

The foundation emphasized that the “Pilgrim’s Chair” project is part of its humanitarian, charitable, and cultural services during the Arbaeen season. It added that the initiative reflects its commitment to serving visitors of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and providing suitable conditions for pilgrims during the annual pilgrimage.

The project is also carried out in line with the guidance and recommendations of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi regarding the importance of serving Arbaeen pilgrims and facilitating their journey to the holy sites.
