Mourners recited elegies and chants recalling the tragedy that befell the family of the Prophet, peace be upon them, in the Battle of Karbala and its aftermath. Participants also took part in traditional mourning rituals, including chest-beating, as an expression of sorrow and sympathy with Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them.
The event was notably well organized, with smooth movement among participants. Passersby and local residents also observed parts of the ceremony and learned about the religious and humanitarian dimensions of the occasion.
