Holy shrines across Najaf, Karbala, Baghdad (Kadhimiya), and Samarra have been draped in black to mark the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (peace be upon him), the 6th Leader of the Ummah and rightful successor of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure family).

According to local reports, banners of mourning have been widely displayed at major religious sites, reflecting grief and remembrance among followers. The commemorations include the organization of mourning gatherings, condolence exchanges, and religious assemblies held in Husseiniyas, religious centers, and even in streets and neighborhoods across the country.

Devotees in Iraq’s holy cities, along with other provinces, continue longstanding traditions of commemorating the martyrdom of the Immaculate Descendents of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon them). These practices include public expressions of mourning and the holding of majlis (memorial gatherings) to honor the occasion.

Participants also offered prayers, asking God to hasten the reappearance of the Master of the Time, who can finally bring relief, peace and security to humanity.

Organizers described the rituals as part of a deeply rooted cultural and religious heritage, aimed at highlighting the significance of the occasion and reinforcing devotion to the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).

Religious institutions and Shia centers in Iraq and abroad have announced special programs and events to mark the anniversary, emphasizing the enduring values and teachings associated with Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (peace be upon him).
