The Al-Askari Holy Shrine in Samarra has finalized its preparations for a unique initiative to distribute the largest cake of its kind to pilgrims. The event is held in celebration of the birth anniversary of Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance), coinciding with the observance of the blessed night of Mid-Sha’ban.
The Shrine administration stated that this initiative is a cornerstone of the festivities marking the Mahdevi birth anniversary. The Shrine’s Guest House oversaw the crafting of the massive cake, designed specifically to host the visiting crowds and involve them in the atmosphere of joy surrounding this significant religious occasion.
According to footage and images obtained by Shia Waves News Agency, the cake was displayed within the Holy Courtyard. The scene captured the spirit of joy and devotion among the pilgrims flocking to Samarra to commemorate the birth of the “Promised Hope,” Imam al-Mahdi (peace be upon him).
Organizers described the step as a “qualitative initiative” held for the first time on such a scale. They emphasized that the gesture is a tribute to the auspicious birth and a physical embodiment of loyalty and love for Imam al-Hujjah ibn al-Hasan (peace be upon him), aimed at bringing happiness to the hearts of the faithful on one of the most celebrated nights in the Islamic calendar.
The city of Samarra is currently witnessing a massive influx of pilgrims from across Iraq and beyond to mark the anniversary at the Shrine of the two Askari Imams (peace be upon them). This comes amidst extensive organizational and service measures implemented by the Al-Askari Holy Shrine to ensure a seamless experience for the pilgrims and the success of the commemorative rituals.
