Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse to Illuminate Skies Worldwide with Special Muslim Prayers
————————————————
A rare total lunar eclipse, commonly known as a “blood moon,” will occur on the night of September 7–8, 2025, visible across much of Asia, Africa, Europe, and Australia, IQNA reported. The event will last over 80 minutes during its total phase, when the Moon appears reddish due to Earth’s atmospheric shadow.

In Iraq, the eclipse will begin at 6:28 p.m. local time in Najaf, peaking at 9:11 p.m., and ending by 11:55 p.m., visible across all cities. Iran will witness the eclipse starting at 7:57 p.m., with totality from 9:01 p.m. to 10:23 p.m. Offices of the Esteemed Religious Authorities have invited all the faithful to perform Salat al-Ayat (Prayer of the Signs), a Sunnah prayer during such natural phenomena. Worshippers are encouraged to pray once the eclipse begins.

Astronomers estimate that up to 85% of the global population may observe part of the eclipse, with no special equipment needed. The September full Moon is also known as the “Corn Moon” in North America.
