…………….
The Al-Askari Holy Shrine in Holy Samarra has raised the black banner of mourning to mark the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam al-Hassan al-Askari (peace be upon him). The ceremony, attended by shrine custodians and large numbers of mourners, signals the beginning of widespread commemorations across the city and beyond.
According to a statement released by the shrine’s official website, preparations have been finalized to receive the influx of millions of pilgrims from various parts of Iraq and abroad. The shrine’s courtyards and walkways have been adorned with black flags and banners bearing messages of grief, as part of a broader religious and logistical program designed for the occasion.
Service processions, known as “mawakib,” have already begun operating along the main routes leading to the shrine, offering food, water, and support to pilgrims. The city of Samarra has witnessed a steady increase in pilgrim arrivals over recent days. Meanwhile, religious centers in other Islamic countries have also announced programs commemorating the Imam, reaffirming the spiritual importance of this day for Shia Muslims around the world.
