Rare Islamic Artifacts Displayed in North Lincolnshire School

Sacred Islamic artifacts, including a 700-year-old cloth that once covered the Holy Kaaba in Mecca, were displayed at St Lawrence Academy in Scunthorpe. The exhibition, held on Thursday, offered visitors a unique opportunity to view rare and original pieces from some of the holiest sites in Islam.

According to the BBC, the “Kiswa Arts and Culture Gallery” exhibition included pieces from the chambers of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure family).

One visitor, Farzana Khanum, described feeling emotional and “tingly” while viewing the collection, stating that it transported her back to her pilgrimage to Mecca. Francesca Washer, a non-Muslim visitor, said she felt “honoured” and “learned so much about the Prophet and Islam.” The exhibition’s guardian, Sheikh Ilyas Malik, said he decided to create the exhibition to raise awareness about Islam. He noted that the artifacts, gifted to him through his family, included a shroud and locks and keys from the Prophet’s resting place.
