Over a thousand Iraqi university students hold unified mourning procession in Karbala ahead of Arbaeen
…………………
More than 1,000 university students from across Iraq gathered in Holy Karbala for a unified mourning procession, held in the lead-up to the Arbaeen pilgrimage, reaffirming their commitment to the path of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and the enduring values of his revolution.
The annual event, organized in coordination with several Iraqi universities and supervised by the Youth Development and Social Rehabilitation Department of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, began on Qibla Street near the shrine of Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him).
The procession passed through the space between the two holy shrines and concluded at the courtyard of the Imam Hussein shrine, where a mourning session was held in the presence of a large number of visitors.
Participating students and faculty members said the event reflects the deep connection between Iraqi youth and the Husseini cause, describing it as a timeless source of inspiration, resistance, and reform.
They emphasized that the message of Imam Hussein transcends time and geography, and upholds values of justice and human dignity needed by every society.
The annual procession is part of a youth-led initiative aimed at reinforcing religious and moral principles derived from the revolution of Imam Hussein, and at embedding its legacy in the consciousness of university students as a symbol of freedom and honor.
