Large crowds of pilgrims from across Iraq and beyond gathered in Holy Najaf to commemorate Eid al-Ghadir, renewing their allegiance to Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) at his holy shrine. The event marks the 18th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the day when Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) declared Imam Ali as his successor at Ghadir Khumm.

Festive and spiritual scenes filled the courtyards of Imam Ali Holy Shrine, where authorities had prepared extensive security and service arrangements to manage the large crowds. The city witnessed heavy foot traffic from the early morning hours.

Visitors expressed joy at participating in what they regard as a defining moment in Islamic history — a day to affirm loyalty to the Prophet’s family and reflect on the values of true Islam. Many cited the Quranic verse: “This day I have perfected for you your religion…” as highlighting the significance of the occasion.

A procession from Holy Karbala also took part, featuring poems, chants, and the distribution of gifts. Organizers said the tradition, now in its fourth year, symbolizes the ongoing commitment to the legacy of Ghadir and the leadership of Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them.
