Pilgrims begin arriving in Holy Karbala for Arafah observance at Imam Hussein’s Holy Shrine

Masses of pilgrims have begun arriving in the holy city of Karbala this Thursday morning, the 8th of Dhu al-Hijjah, to observe the spiritual rituals of the Day and Night of Arafah at the shrines of Imam Hussein and his brother Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them).

Iraqi, Arab, and international visitors—mainly followers of the Ahl al-Bayt school—are continuing to stream into the city in growing numbers. Many are making their way directly to the sacred shrines to perform the special prayers, supplications, and recommended acts associated with this highly revered day.

The ceremonies are expected to intensify throughout the day and night, extending into the eve and morning of Eid al-Adha. Authorities anticipate that the turnout will swell into the millions as the day progresses, reflecting the profound spiritual and emotional connection pilgrims feel to this occasion.
