Holy Karbala shrines covered in black in mourning for Imam al-Baqir’s martyrdom anniversary
A solemn atmosphere has enveloped the holy shrines of Imam Hussain and his brother Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them) in Holy Karbala, as black banners and mourning signs were raised to mark the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (peace be upon him).
The holy shrines announced a series of commemorative programs, including religious lectures and elegy recitations focusing on the Imam’s noble life, his suffering under oppressive rulers, and his vital role—alongside his father, Imam Zain al-Abidin (peace be upon him)—in preserving the teachings of Ahlulbayt and reviving Islamic knowledge after the tragedy of Karbala.
Mourning ceremonies also continue in Husseiniyas and mosques across Iraq and abroad, as believers gather on the 7th of Dhu al-Hijjah to honor the legacy of the fifth Imam, reflecting on his sacrifices and reaffirming their commitment to his enduring message.
