Rome has unveiled a new collection of silver coins celebrating the three Abrahamic faiths—Islam, Christianity, and Judaism—in a cultural initiative aimed at promoting interfaith coexistence. The project, launched by the Italian Mint, highlights the city’s efforts to emphasize mutual respect and dialogue amid rising global religious and political tensions.

The coin series features three designs, each representing a major religious landmark. One coin depicts the Grand Mosque of Rome, showcasing its dome, minaret, and large courtyard—symbols of the city’s diverse Muslim community and the wider Islamic cultural presence in Italy. A second coin is dedicated to St. Peter’s Basilica, representing Christianity, while the third features the Great Synagogue of Rome as a symbol of the city’s Jewish heritage.

According to organizers, the initiative stems from broad cooperation between representatives of the Muslim, Christian, and Jewish communities in Rome. Religious leaders from all three faiths contributed to the conceptual framework and messaging of the project, which underscores the potential for meaningful engagement across religious lines.

Project coordinators hope the coin series will encourage interfaith dialogue and reinforce Rome’s role as a city where religious diversity is recognized as part of both its historical identity and contemporary civic life.
