Bomb blast targeting police kills 5, wounds 21 in northwest Pakistan

An explosion targeting police in northwest Pakistan killed five people on Friday, rescue and police officials said, but there was no immediate claim of responsibility.

The bomb exploded close to a police patrol in Dera Ismail Khan city, a police official said, and according to rescue officials, 21 suffered wounds.

Pakistan has witnessed an uptick in terror activities in recent months, especially in KP and Balochistan, after the TTP ended its ceasefire with the government in November last year.
