Syrian mufti’s Christian adviser appreciates efforts of Shia Muslims in promoting peaceful coexistence

The Christian advisor to the Mufti of Syria, engineer Basil Qas Nasrullah, has shared in an article his personal experience of communicating with Shia Muslims, both in his own country, Syria, and also during his travels to other countries around the world, including France and Iraq.

He has pointed out the culture of peaceful coexistence as one of the characteristics of Shia Muslims, including clerics and other believers, and emphasized that Shiites are doing their best to spread this culture.

In his article entitled “The Christian Sheikh in the Holy Shrines of the Shia”, published in the “Coptics are united” website, Nasrullah has highlighted the fact that he has fraternal relations with the clerics and believers who follow the Ahl al-Bayt.

According to the Shia Waves Agency, what has attracted his attention during these relations was the Shiites’ indescribable affections, and their emphasis on spreading the culture of peaceful coexistence between Muslims and followers of other religions, especially Christians.

Nasrullah has further noted that: As such fraternal relations with Shia Muslims deepened, he was honored to visit the Holy Shrines of Ahlul-Bayt, peace be upon them, in the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala.

The deep cordial relationship with the Iraqi Shiites eventually earned him the title, “Christian Sheikh”, he added.

Nasrullah also emphasized that in his recent trip to Iraq what drew his attention about Shia clerics and citizens was the high morals he observed from them; an echo of what he had seen in Syria, Paris and other places.
