Kyrgyzstan repatriates over 80 family members of terrorists from camps in Syria
Kyrgyzstan announced on Sunday that it had repatriated 83 women and children of terrorists from camps in Syria. This is the fourth such operation by Kyrgyzstan, which has seen thousands of its citizens join terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq.
The women and children were transferred from camps in northeastern Syria to Kyrgyzstan on October 22. They will now be subject to a rehabilitation program that includes psychological counseling and education.
The repatriation of women and children of terrorists is a controversial issue. Some countries, such as France, have suspended collective repatriation operations, arguing that it is difficult to ensure that the women and children are not radicalized.
Kyrgyzstan has said that it is committed to repatriating all of its citizens who are in Syria or Iraq, confirming that it will work to rehabilitate them so that they can reintegrate into society.
