A Nepal town imposes a lockdown and beefs up the security to prevent the outbreak of religious clashes and ensure the continued tranquillity of the town.
Nepalgunj city in the southwest of Nepal imposed a strict lockdown as trouble began over the weekend after a Hindu boy posted a status about Muslims on social media.
Muslims protested inside the main government administrator’s office building, where they burned tires on the street and blocked traffic.
A larger Hindu rally was held Tuesday until stones and bottles were thrown at protesters, resulting in a few minor injuries.
Local leaders however have no initiated critical measures to foster understanding and unity.
