39% of attacks in England and Wales Target Muslims

In recent date collected by the Home office it reveals that there were over 105,000 hate crimes incidents recorded in the 2020-2021 period, which marked a 7%increase from the previous year.

39% of all hate crimes however were specifically targeting Muslims, since police have started compiling statistics Muslims have remained the most targeted group.

However, many believe that the actual percentage must be higher as many hate crimes go as unreported. The next most targeted group last year was Jews with 1,510 hate crimes perpetrated against them, while Christians were targeted 649 times.

There were also 308 attacks against Sikhs, 291 attacks against Hindus, and 19 attacks against Buddhists.
