Grand Ayatollah Shirazi advises all believers, especially youth, to adhere to words of Messenger of God, peace be upon him and his family
The daily scholarly meeting of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Sadiq al-Hosseini al-Shirazi was held on Thursday, the 12th of Rabi al-Awwal. In this session, like the previous meetings, the Marja answered the questions of the attendees about various jurisprudence issues.
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi discussed the birth date of the Holy Prophet, and said: “From the past, there has been a dispute over this issue, where the Sunnis have recorded the 12th day of Rabi al-Awwal as the day of the Holy Prophet’s birth, but the traditions of Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them, mention the seventeenth day of Rabi al-Awwal as the date of his birth. Of course, there are differences regarding the date of birth and martyrdom of other Infallibles, peace be upon them. So, on this basis, the birth of the Honorable Messenger of Allah is widely celebrated on the 12th of Rabi al-Awwal by the Sunni community, and on the seventeenth of Rabi al-Awwal by the Shiites around the world.”
His Eminence addressed all believers, both men and women, and especially the youth, and said: My advice to all of you is to adhere to the words of the Messenger of Allah, that is, setting only the Book of God, and Etrah ( his Ahl alhis Etrat (Ahlul-Bayt) as your standard, and there is no third. As the Messenger of God emphasized the two, likewise, as a Shia Religious Authority, I emphasize to all of you the necessity to increase your efforts as much as you can, and to center all your life and activities around this cause. Do your best to spread, promote and hold in honor the Book of God and the Etrat (Ahlul-Bayt). I ask the Almighty God to protect you on this path and save you from all possible dangers and troubles.”
His Eminence also went on to say: Enemies and ill-wishers used all their efforts to battle Islam and Ahlul Bayt throughout history, but their efforts were in vain, and Islam spread further, and the status of Ahlul-Bayt, peace be upon them, rose even further. Just as Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) was martyred, but Islam did not disappear, and instead gained a higher and stronger position. So, it is necessary for all believers to make all efforts possible to propagate and spread the teachings of Qur’an and Ahlul-Bayt through social relationships and in all matters of their lives.
