World Resources Institute: Water shortage threatens 6 billion people

The World Resources Institute announced in its recent report that the lack of clean water will threaten about six billion people in the world by 2050.

According to WRI, the countries of sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East are particularly under severe water stress, and countries in Europe such as Italy Spain and Belgium are facing water shortage.

The report also states that the risks of water shortage are expected to intensify due to water supply and demand factors, such as population growth, resource-based economic development, and the spread of droughts, which is exacerbated by climate change.
