30 al-Shabaab terrorists neutralized, villages freed in army operation in central Somalia

In response to a suicide bombing on the Galmudug state president, killing two soldiers and injuring two members of Somalia’s Federal Parliament, the Somali army launched a military operation on Saturday which killed at least 30 al-Shabaab terrorists and liberated two villages from the al-Qaeda-affiliated terror group.

A statement by the Information Ministry of the country said that the National Army’s operation was carried out with the help of brave locals in the central state of Galgadud, resulting in liberation of the areas of Sargo and Qodqod in Galgaduud region.

During the operation, the Somali National Army (SNA) destroyed four al-Shabaab vehicles and seized weapons, the statement said, adding that the government is determined to “punish the terrorist conspirators who dare to harm our people.”
