Grand Ayatollah Shirazi discusses facing Qibla in obligatory, mustahab prayers in daily scholarly meeting
The daily scholarly meeting of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi was held on Sunday, the 24th of Safar. In this session, like the previous meetings, the Marja answered the questions of the attendees about various jurisprudence issues.
His Eminence discussed whether stability is a requisite in Mustahab prayers, and said: “Mustahab and Nawafil prayers can be performed while moving, and in this situation, not facing the Qiblah as well as pointing in place of bowing and prostration is permissible.”
The Supreme Marja further said: “When a mustahab prayer is performed while being in ‘stable and standing’ position, facing the Qiblah is a requisite. So, facing the Qiblah is a requisite for the validity of the obligatory prayer, as well as the Mustahab and Nawafil prayers while standing and not moving, according to the predominant jurisprudential opinion.”
