More than half of young Arabs looking for migration, says survey
ASDA’A BCW Arab Youth Survey has revealed that more than half of Arab youth in the Middle East and North Africa are trying to emigrate from their countries or are seriously considering it.
According to Al Jazeera, the results of this survey that was published a few days ago show 53% of the respondents in Eastern countries and 48% in North African countries want to leave their country to look for better opportunities, especially better job opportunities.
This is happening while people in many Arab countries are complaining about the poor economic situation.
Based on this survey, 72% of young people in the Middle East, including Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria, and 62% in North Africa, including Algeria, Libya, the Maghreb, the Sudan, and Tunisia believe that their countries’ economies are moving in the wrong direction.
Although economic factors are the main reason that drive migration plans among young Arabs, this survey has revealed other reasons of security and political nature.
