UNESCO warns of 40% of world’s languages at risk of fading

The United Nations Scientific, Cultural and Educational Organization (UNESCO) says that more than 6,700 languages are spoken around the world, but at least 40% of these languages are at risk of being forgotten.
On Monday, July 3, UNESCO tweeted that classrooms play a vital role in keeping languages alive.
This international organization has asked countries to implement mother tongue-based education.
