Iraqi security chief Ahmed al-Azzawi confirmed that two civilians were wounded by two separate terrorist attacks in the northeast and east of Diyala.
Al-Azzawi said in a statement that a worker in a gravel factory near al-Mansouriya district (45 km east of Baquba) was wounded by an ISIS sniper fire, while a shepherd was wounded when an explosive device exploded in an agricultural land near the village of al-Khanania, on the outskirts of Muqdadiya district.
Al-Azzawi added that the condition of the wounded civilians is stable after they were taken to the hospital for treatment, stressing that ISIS’s criminal actions to target innocent people continue, especially in the liberated areas, in an attempt to confirm its existence.
Diyala is witnessing from time to time terrorist acts by ISIS sleeper cells, especially in the liberated areas.
