The Army reports that militants killed 6 Pakistani soldiers in the North-Western tribal district bordering Afghanistan.
No militant group has taken immediate responsibility, however, this comes shortly after Pakistan declared a new offensive against militants following a resurgence of attacks, including a mosque bombing that killed more than 100 people in February and injured many others.
‘A fire exchange took place between terrorists and our own troop.’ the army reported in a statement.
The incident came within a week after attacks by extremist militants, including an assault by a suicide bomber who drove into the military base, killing three soldiers.
