WHO urges Afghanis to vaccinate children

The World Health Organization has urged Afghan families to take advantage of any opportunity to vaccinate their children under the age of five against polio.

The international organization stressed to Afghan families that by giving two drops of polio vaccine to children, the spread of the virus can be prevented.

Earlier, WHO had announced that more than 420,000 children in Afghanistan have not received at least one important vaccine.

Although no positive cases of polio have been registered in Afghanistan this year, the officials of the eastern region of Afghanistan say that the active virus of the disease has been observed in the environment.

It should be noted that polio is a disabling and life-threatening viral disease that mainly affects a person’s spinal cord, causing paralysis.
