Shia followers of AhlulBayt commemorate 64th death anniversary of Imam Mirza Mahdi al-Shirazi
Shia followers of AhlulBayet, peace be upon them, across the world have expressed their great sorrow to the honorable Shirazi family, on the anniversary of the passing of Imam Mirza, the Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Mahdi al-Hussaini al-Shirazi, and the father of the Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husayni Al-Shirazi, which is commemorated on the 28th of Sha’ban.
On this sorrowful anniversary, the mourners recalled the efforts of the late Imam Mirza Shirazi, and the sacrifices he made in order to serve science, defend the free Shia, and revive the Holy Husseini rituals.
Imam Mirza Sayyid Mahdi al-Husayni al-Shirazi was born in the holy city of Karbala, in mid-Sha’ban in the year (1304 AH), and he received his religious lessons there from a group of scholars until the death of his father, Ayatollah Sayyid Mirza Habibullah Shirazi.
Then, His Eminence moved to Samarra, where he studied at scientific seminary founded by the First Imam al-Shirazi, and was managed by Imam Sheikh Mohammad Taqi al-shirazi.
Imam Mirza al-Shirazi moved to Najaf to continue his scientific studies and attended the lessons of the great jurists of the time, such as Muhaqqiq al-Na’ini and Muhaqqiq al-Iraqi.
Imam Mirza Sayyid Mahdi al-Shirazi is the father of each of the late Religious Authority, Imam Sayyid Muhammad al-Husayni al-Shirazi, the martyr thinker Sayyid Hasan al-Shirazi, the Supreme Religious Authority, Imam Sayyid Sadiq al-Husayni al-Shirazi, and the jurist Ayatollah Sayyid Mujtaba al-Shirazi.
