The World Federal ‘Web’ of the International Fourth UN Committee said that Britain and the United States supplied the Saudi-led coalition against Yemen with weapons used in hundreds of attacks on civilians between January 2021 and the end of February 2022.
The website stressed that air raids on Yemen using British and American weapons are part of a pattern of violence against civilians, and that these attacks would not have been possible without the continuous supply of weapons, and as a result this is why it is necessary that the UK government and other governments immediately stop sales.
It stated that during the past few days, a lawsuit was filed against arms traders aimed at ending the British government’s sales of billions of pounds of weapons, including combat aircraft, missiles and Typhoon bombs, in addition to ongoing maintenance and support, for use in the Saudi and UAE-led war in Yemen.
The ‘Web’ added that despite the overwhelming evidence that the coalition has repeatedly violated international humanitarian law in its war on Yemen, the government has continued to promote and protect arms sales.
The United Kingdom has provided Saudi Arabia with weapons worth more than 23 billion pounds sterling, since the start of the war in Yemen. 2015.
