Muslim woman seeks to translate the Noble Quran and the Prophet’s hadiths into Welsh

A Muslim girl named Laura Jones from the capital of Wales, Cardiff, seeks to spread the teachings of the Islamic religion in the Welsh language, which is an official language alongside English in the United Kingdom.

Jones said, in a statement to the BBC, that she wants her Islamic religion to be part of the conversations in the Welsh language.

“I sought to learn the Welsh language, in order to translate Islamic texts from Arabic into Welsh, especially the Noble Quran,” noting that “this matter is very important because many Muslims and even non-Muslims who speak this language want to know more about the Islamic religion.”

Jones explained that “the Quranic texts and hadiths of the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) have been translated into several international languages, but there is no complete translation of the Noble Quran in the Welsh language.”

She added, “With the increasing number of Muslims who speak the Welsh language, it is time to translate more Islamic texts.”

Jones pointed out that “the history of Muslims in Wales dates back to the eighth century AD, where there are many links that confirm this, including King Ufa’s retention of a gold coin minted with an Islamic inscription.”
