The International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslim) has expressed its strong condemnation of the escalation of racist rhetoric targeting Muslim communities in France, calling on the authorities to protect Muslims and work to limit the increasing dangers they face.
In a statement received by Shia Waves Agency, the Organization said that it had seen, during the past months, inflammatory statements and calls issued by French elites and institutions targeting Muslim communities in France, the last of which was the violent comments made by the French writer, Michel Houellebecq, targeting Muslims during a recent interview.
The organization believes that “the growing campaigns directed against Muslims portend great dangers to the security and safety of individuals and Muslim communities residing in France,” calling for “the need for serious intervention to confront this dangerous escalation.”
The organization also affirmed through its statement that “extremism, fanaticism, incitement and hatred, from whatever side, are extremely sensitive phenomena and a reason for concerted official and popular efforts to combat and address them through effective and fruitful measures that put an end to their spread or their transformation into terrorist practices, as happened in some countries.”
The statement called on French lawmakers to “enact humanitarian laws and legislation to confront racial extremism and curb advocates of hatred and violence, regardless of their national or religious backgrounds.”
