UNICEF launches humanitarian appeal to meet unprecedented crisis

Today, more children are in need of humanitarian assistance than at any time since World War II. Children around the world face an unprecedented crises — from conflict and displacement to outbreaks of infectious diseases and rising rates of malnutrition, according to the UNICEF.

More than 400 million children live in areas wracked by conflict; an estimated 1 billion children—nearly half of the world’s children—live in countries that are most vulnerable to the effects of climate change.

At least 36.5 million children have been displaced from their homes; and 8 million children under the age of five in 15 countries devastated by crises are at risk of dying from severe malnutrition.

In wake of this deteriorating situation, the UNICEF launches its appeal to meet the unprecedented humanitarian needs. The appeal aims to provide humanitarian assistance to more than 110 million children in 155 countries and territories
