Turkey: Protests and widespread rejection in Istanbul after ban on headscarves in Indian universities

Dozens of citizens and members of rights groups in Turkey protested against the headscarf ban in Indian universities.
Members of the Free Thought Association, and the Association for Human Rights and Solidarity with the Oppressed, protested in front of the Indian Consulate General in Istanbul against the ban on headscarves in Kartakana universities.
The demonstrators carried banners reading “No to racism, anti-Islam, Hindu nationalism and banning the veil.”
Rezvan Kaya, head of the association, said that the ban on headscarves in Kartakana should not be considered a separate case, stressing that the Hindu nationalist movements that have spread in recent years are in fact the most prominent manifestations of repression and repressive measures against Muslims in India.
He added, there are more than 200 million Muslims in India, and this persecution of them must end as soon as possible.
