Brigadier General Mazen al-Ghazali, media director of the Middle Euphrates Operations Command, announced that eight people were killed and six others injured when a car exploded in checkpoint 54 in the holy city of Karbala.

Ghazali said in a statement that a Kia bus exploded near checkpoint 54 on the Karbala-Baghdad Road, after a terrorist placed an IED on the bus. The incident led to the death of eight people so far and six others wounded who were taken to hospitals for treatment.

The security source revealed the arrest of the terrorist in a restaurant near the area.
