Tatarstan to recognize Kazan as the first city in the Islamic world in which the Holy Quran was printed


The President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Nurgalivich Minnikhanov, suggested recognizing Kazan as the first city in the Islamic world in which the Holy Quran was printed.
The President of the Republic of Tatarstan made this proposal during the meeting of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia and the Islamic World”, which was held in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
According to this proposal, the year 1803 CE was identified as the year in which the Holy Qur’an was printed by Muslims for the first time.
Referring to the relations between Muslims and other religions in Tatarstan, he said, “The Tatarstan model shows coexistence and cooperation between followers of religions and sects and a civilized approach to issues of national security and the development of the Russian Federation.”
